ONE ENGINE FOR ALL
Vortex Hybrid Engine
ENGINE PLATFORM
Meet the scalable rocket engine platform for all your small payload needs. The vortex-hybrid rocket engine provides the best of both worlds:
The flexibility and performance of a liquid
bi-propellant rocket, without the high
manufacturing and development costs,
with the reliability and simplicity of a solid rocket.

Using our proprietary technology, vortex hybrid rocket engines are produced by 3D printing fuel grains using thermoplastic material. The solid thermoplastic becomes high-energy fuel when combined with liquid oxidizer and ignited. Both are non-toxic and non-hazardous at ambient temperatures. This means it’s much safer, and only acts like a rocket under the right conditions.
The liquid oxidizer allows propulsion from the solid rocket to be throttled by increasing or decreasing the flow of oxidizer into the combustion chamber, and if necessary, after ignition our engines can safely be shut down and restarted.

Combining additive manufacturing, 3D printing key components to reduce the number of parts, and utilizing commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) components greatly reduces complexity and cost. The engine’s hybrid design also provides greater reliability, meaning that it requires less maintenance and monitoring during launch. Vaya Space is revolutionizing rocket science, one launch at a time.
